Geneva, 16 July 2007 - Switzerland's Flybaboo airline today announced a direct flight between Geneva and Rome. From 28 October, Flybaboo will connect Geneva with Rome's International Airport, Fiumicino, on a daily basis. The flights will be at convenient times for business and leisure travellers and one way ticket prices start at 89 CHF, including taxes (55 € including taxes).
This new route is part of the Swiss company's growth strategy. Flybaboo will now connect five Italian cities to Geneva: Naples (in operation since April 2007), Florence and Venice (since June 2004) and Olbia - a summer flight (since June 2006). "These are successful destinations and we wanted to continue to grow our services in Italy by directly serving the capital city," comments Julian Cook, CEO and founder of Flybaboo.
The Geneva-Rome flight will be operated by a Bombardier Dash8-Q400 turboprop, bought by Flybaboo this year, with a seating capacity of 74. From April 2008, Flybaboo will take delivery of five Embraer E190 aeroplanes with a seating capacity of 100 and one of these jets will operate on the Geneva-Rome flight. "The Embraer E190 meets market demand and can fly from Geneva to Rome at reasonable costs and efficient times," adds Julian.
The winter schedule will start from 28 October and include four weekly flights to Naples, Venice and Florence (on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sundays for Naples and Venice, and Thursday, Friday and Sunday for Florence).
